  • Tap Water Coverage (rural/urban): Piped water saves time and improves health. Example: Women save 2 hours/day previously spent fetching water.
  • Functional Toilets & ODF Sustainability: Building toilets is step one; usage and maintenance are the test. Example: Twin-pit designs + behaviour nudges keep villages ODF.
  • Water Quality (fluoride/arsenic/coliform): Contaminants cause disease even with “access.” Example: Installing community RO plants where fluoride is high reduces dental/skeletal issues.
  • Sewage Treatment Capacity & Utilisation: Treating what we collect is key to clean rivers. Example: STP upgrades raise treatment from 55% to 85% → cleaner downstream stretches.
  • Solid Waste Management (collection/processing): Door-to-door collection, segregation, composting, MRFs raise processing rates. Example: City moves from 25% to 70% scientific processing → fewer landfill fires.
  • Supply Reliability (hours/pressure): Intermittent supply forces tanker use. Example: 24×7 pilot in one zone ends overhead tank dependence.
  • Flood/Waterlogging Management: Drains, pumps, and lake revival reduce urban flooding. Example: Deep desilting + pumping stations clear monsoon backups.
